What is Prosolv?

PROSOLV® SMCC, or silicified microcrystalline cellulose, is a combination of microcrystalline cellulose and colloidal silicon dioxide. It is a high-functionality and multifunctional excipient, requires less complex processing, and has high-inherent functionality, which is passed on to the drug formulation.

What is SMCC excipient?

Over 20 years ago, JRS PHARMA developed a new and innovative excipient, PROSOLV® SMCC (silicified microcrystalline cellulose), to alleviate some of the known deficiencies of conventional binders including: low bulk density, poor flow, loss of compatibility, stickiness issues, and sensitivity to lubricants.

What is silicified microcrystalline cellulose?

Silicified microcrystalline cellulose (SMCC) is a novel tableting excipient which can improve binding capability as a material and in tablet formulations. The material also shows improved resistance to the degrading effects of magnesium stearate compared with regular microcrystalline cellulose.

What is avicel made of?

Avicel® microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) is a purified, partially depolymerized alphacellulose excipient made by acid hydrolysis of specialty wood pulp.

What is explotab?

Description. EXPLOTAB®, sodium starch glycolate, is a superdisintegrant made from potato starch by carboxymethylation and crosslinking. It offers excellent formulation and commercial benefits to the pharmaceutical industry and demonstrates strong swelling properties upon contact with water and other media.

Is cellulose harmful to the body?

First the good: Eating cellulose won’t kill you. There are no known harmful side effects from adding it to food, and it’s completely legal.

Is avicel the same as microcrystalline cellulose?

Avicel PH, FMCs innovator brand of microcrystalline cellulose, is a purified, partially depolymerized alpha-cellulose made by acid hydrolysis of specialty wood pulp.

What is super disintegrant?

Superdisintegrants: Disintegrating agents are substances routinely included in the tablet formulations to aid in the break-up of the compacted mass into the primary particles to facilitate the dissolution or release of the active ingredients when it is put into a fluid environment.

What is AC di Sol?

Ac-Di-Sol® Croscarmellose Sodium is one of Nutrition & Biosciences flagship offerings for pharmaceutical manufacturers. An internally cross-linked sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (NaCMC), it aids in the disintegration and drug dissolution of pharmaceutical and dietary supplement tablets, capsules, and granules.

Is cellulose in vitamins safe?

Cellulose also exists in supplement form. It’s generally safe to consume cellulose. But if you eat too much cellulose or fiber, you may have uncomfortable side effects like gas and bloating.

Is cellulose bad for diabetics?

On the basis of their own results and data of other authors it was concluded that cellulose exerts a good effect upon the blood glucose level and its use should be recommended as a dietetic treatment component in patients with type II diabetes mellitus.
